School reunion in two weeks - debated whether to go or not but decided in the affirmative and am having a brief holiday in Noosa as compensation for having to deal with another life that is another world away. Just for one night only, I'm in the old town. The cool gang will have to suck it up - they're all still living in the same little town.

Me, I got out of there pronto, and find myself after a few years of wandering, here in the currently sunny Melbourne. Doing the do, and looking desperately on Kazaa for hits from 1991, 1990 and 1989. Having a brain spasm when I realise that Right Said Fred's "I'm too sexy" is one of the songs that defines the end of my high school years. And "Blaze of Glory" from the inimitable Bon Jovi. Ah yes, stretch denim jeans... and now its all back.

Am going to sit down and have a big present day music session with the radio to clear my head - or better still, a really olden day music session with my favourite tunes from the 1930's. That should help heal the mental scarring in place from having to listen to all of that synth pop. What is most troubling is that echoes of the late 80's early 90's are heard in the trash pop of today, and it just doesn't get much better with age.

Maybe I should have been born in the 30's and lived mostly in the 50's - technology, bop jazz and new household appliances for all my friends!
